Some eSIMs Airalo offers include the ability to make calls and texts (SMS). If you’re having trouble making calls and texts with your eSIM, it may be for a couple of reasons.
Does my eSIM include calls and texts?
While Airalo offers eSIMs with calls and texts, many only include data.
You can see if your eSIM includes calls and texts under “Plan Type” in its additional information.
“Data, Voice & Text” plans will include calls and texts. “Data Only” plans do not include calls and texts.
Where can I find if an eSIM includes calls and texts?
Before you buy an eSIM, you’ll find the additional information before you check out.
After you buy an eSIM, go to My eSIMs and select the relevant eSIM — you’ll find the additional information from “Show More.”
Can I use messaging apps to make calls with data only eSIMs?
Yes, you can usually use messaging apps like WhatsApp, Telegram, and Signal to make calls with data only eSIMs — these apps generally only use data.
Why isn’t my eSIM with calls and texts working?
If your eSIM includes calls and texts, try the following if you’re having trouble sending or receiving calls and texts:
1. Make sure the eSIM is installed — you should be able to see it in your device settings.
2. Make sure your eSIM is selected for calls and texts — follow the steps in the installation instructions.
3. Make sure you’re in the eSIM’s coverage area — this is the only location where your eSIM will work.
If you’ve done all of the above, try selecting the eSIM’s network manually. Your eSIM will connect to a network in its coverage area — sometimes it can connect to multiple networks. It will usually automatically select the strongest available network, but may accidentally connect to the a weaker network.
